The ability we had to experiment and discover with our own bodies was immensely valuable. I discovered so much about my core and certain dance steps through the work I did moving about the room.

It was insane how easily the moves came to me by just keeping in mind the core exercises we started with. When I have done lyrical in the past, it was all about the emotions, but something was holding me back. Taking the "universal" emotions and applying those to our moves was really special.

I loved the incorporation of physics into what you were teaching, especially when you mentioned it in regard to my piece. It is common sense, but, for whatever reason, it is easy to forget when performing.

Just getting to bounce ideas and collaborate helped inspire and motivate me to keep building and get more specific.

Working with Andrea has been such a great experience for me. When I first started working with her I was not a very confident dancer and I really considered myself a mover if anything. She presents the information in a universal way, so that it can be easily understood by any person who doesn’t know the lingo. She will do everything in her power to make sure that you understand the information. I enjoy the freedom of the whole process. Even if something is choreographed, you can still make it your own, and it is always a collaborative process.

Andrea is a choreographer who comes to rehearsal with a story in her heart in need of telling, with an open mind to follow, who allows for dancer/choreographer collaboration to help shape the piece. Andrea shapes her work in the parameters of her story and only uses the most effective movement to craft her dances. Often, I found myself leaving the sessions even more inspired than when I had walked in.
