Rockin’ Road to Dublin is on its way across the pond, and Scott shares with us the journey of taking a show international. Scott has some amazing advice for young artists starting on their creative journey, including his best advice for making sure that your project gets completed.
Scott Doherty started Irish dancing at the age of 6 at the O’Shea-Chaplin Academy of Irish Dance in Boston, MA. Taught by the world renowned Rita O’Shea and her daughter, Lisa Chaplin, Scott went on to win many titles including 8 New England Championships, the North American Championships, the Great Britain Championships, and most notably he became the men’s World Champion of Irish dance in 2009.
Scott made his professional debut in 2005 with the North American tour of Riverdance. Since then he has toured all over the world with Riverdance, Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance & Feet of Flames, Gaelforce Dance, as well as numerous other productions. Scott has also performed at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and since 2012 has served as dance captain and principal dancer for Celtic Fyre – Voted USA Today’s Best Amusement Park Entertainment in America. Scott has also been a guest performer with many acclaimed Irish acts, including the Irish Tenors, Cherish the Ladies, Michael Londra, and Andy Cooney. Also, in 2013 Scott was invited to host a masterclass for the online Irish dance platform, Diddlyi.com.
Most recently, Scott co-created his own show, Rockin’ Road to Dublin. Serving as the show’s Choreographer, Co-Creator, Executive Producer, and Principal Lead dancer; Scott was proud to debut the show in 2014. Rockin’ Road to Dublin is a dream come true for Scott not only as an modern, new production, but as another exciting avenue to give hard working Irish dancers the opportunity to tour doing what they love. Rockin’ Road to Dublin recently embarked on their second national tour all over the United States.
