On this episode of DLEW, I talk with Emmaly Wiederholt of Stance on Dance.
Emmaly is a dance artist and a writer – and she’s combined these two passions beautifully in her website, stanceondance.com and in her book, “Beauty is Experience: Dancing 50 and Beyond.” Emmaly knows the importance of creating dialogue around dance – to truly reflect on, learn from, and progress in the world of dance, conversation is a NECESSITY.
Emmaly Wiederholt is a dancer and writer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the editor and founder of Stance on Dance (stanceondance.com). She received her masters in arts journalism from the University of Southern California and her BFA in ballet and BS in political science from the University of Utah. She further trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and has performed extensively around the Bay Area. She is a founding member of Malinda LaVelle’s dance theater company, Project Thrust. Emmaly is the author of the newly released book “Beauty is Experience: Dancing 50 and Beyond.” She has contributed regularly to the San Francisco Bay Guardian, In Dance, Caring Magazine, Cue Newspaper at the South Africa National Arts Festival, and the Santa Fe Reporter. She works as the editor of Fine Lifestyles Santa Fe Magazine and, of course, runs Stance on Dance. She continues to perform regularly in New Mexico in a myriad of projects ranging from flamenco shows to art galleries installations.
