On this episode of DLEW, I talk with Jenna Rae Smith of Smashworks Dance Collective.
Life is full of transitions, changes, and opportunities – and that can make it hard to really be yourself. From being an original member of an emerging dance company to creating her own works, Jenna has discovered how important it is to continuously be yourself… and she’s ready to share her discoveries with you.
Jenna Rae Smith received most of her early training in her hometown of Youngstown, Ohio before attending Point Park University to pursue her Bachelor of Arts in modern dance. There, she had the opportunity to perform in several showcases and festivals, as well as becoming an original member of fireWALL Dance Theater. Jenna became an instructor at Millennium Dance Complex Pittsburgh and has had her choreography featured at the Harlem Globetrotters at PPG Paints Arena, Ascendance Showcase and Carnegie Stage.
Now residing in Brooklyn, she is a member of the New York-based Smashworks Dance Collective. Most recently, she traveled to Brighton, England to perform her role Within in the multimedia production of The Woman Who Shed Her Skin. Jenna is a lover of film, live music and is always eager to discover and immerse herself in the New York art scene.
