On this episode of DLEW, I talk with Carly Faye, NYC dance artist, choreographer, and teacher.
It’s incredible to be able to peer into Carly’s life at this time – and she has some fantastic advice for anyone who is in a similar situation. When everything falls on YOU and life gets a little crazy, how will you respond?
Carly Faye (Engelke), originally from Baltimore, MD now resides in New York City. For the past 7 years she has been the Head Teacher for Shooting Stars NYC, and Manager for the past 5. Her dancers at Shooting Stars have won multiple competitive awards, and performed at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, and Madison Square Garden. Prior to joining the Shooting Stars team Carly was the head of the Dance Department at Camp Starlight, and taught at several studios in the Baltimore-Washington Area. Her choreography has received regional and national recognition, been selected for the American College Dance Festival, and performed on prime time television. In addition to competitive studios, Carly has worked with public and private schools teaching multiple styles of dance to children of all ages, as well as choreographing for their dance companies and teams. Carly has been training dancers in Contemporary, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap and Ballet for 15 years, and her students have been accepted into the Kirov Academy, Carnegie Mellon, University of the Arts, Julliard, The Bolshoi Ballet, Alvin Ailey, and have gone on to have professional careers all over the world. Carly has performed professionally with Silvertree Productions, The Next Stage Project, Baltimore Dance Collective, and at New York Fashion Week.
